Cousin’s, Melanie and Mary Ellen, (Mis and Meg), launched their cottage business of designing, knitting and felting one of a kind handbags in 2011. Meg had received rave reviews for the bags she initially made, with requests for more. With that interest, the cousins took the leap, started a business, and have been knitting like crazy women ever since.

No two alike…

The handbags are knitted from wool or wool/mohair combination. Most wool is from sheep farms in the U.S.A., but Italian and German wool and fibers are used too, many hand dyed. The majority of the leather and suede handles are made by artisans in the U.S.A.

The bags are designed to be “one of a kind” and cannot be recreated. Each is a surprise as the combinations of colors, wools and novelty yarns all felt differently, yielding different shapes, sizes and look. A small yarn inventory is maintained which means new yarns are added continually as others are discontinued.

“As pretty on the inside…”

These works of art are also practical. High quality fabrics, mostly cotton, are used for each bags lining. Each is finished with an eye for keeping essentials organized and handy. Further, on most bags, an adornment is designed and added to the handle for a unique and distinctive appearance. It all adds up to a beautiful bag sure to make you smile when you take that first peak inside.

MisMeg customers continually say, “my bag makes me so happy”. Now what could be better than that!
